Traditional Tales: Three Billy Goats Gruff

Hi families! This week in our younger toddler classroom, we will be exploring the traditional tale The Three Billy Goats Gruff.

Throughout the week, the children will engage in hands-on and imaginative activities. We will practice retelling the story by acting it out on our “bridge,” helping to build early language and storytelling skills. We will also explore sounds by creating the “trip-trap” noise of the goats and use drums to bring the story to life.

In our learning centers, we will work on early math skills by recognizing numbers and exploring concepts like small and large by comparing the goats. We will also introduce simple ASL signs like “goat,” “bridge,” and “kindness” to support communication.

Social-emotionally, we will focus on kindness and talk about feelings like being scared, helping children learn how to express and manage their emotions. We will even discuss how the story might change if the troll were kind!

To wrap up the week, the children will get creative by painting trolls, making playdough faces, and even helping to make “Purple Troll Shakes”!

We are excited for a fun and engaging week bringing this story to life—be sure to ask your child about the goats and the troll!
