Our Curriculum

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, as established by the British Office for Standards in Education, which uses six overlapping age bands. Every child is different and children do not grow and develop at the same rate, or in the same way.

It's an integrated program that evolves as your child gains confidence and develops at Happy Bunnies.

Smiling Baby
Birth - 11 Months
  • Babies have their own special person at Happy Bunnies who knows them really well & understands their needs.
  • We provide warm, loving consistent care - responding quickly to your baby.
  • Our teachers hold & handle babies. Sensitive touch helps to build security & attachment.
1 Year Old Baby
8 - 20 Months
  • Every day, their key baby buddy is available to greet them at the start & hand over to parents at the end
  • Playful interactions encourage babies to repsond to, and mimic adults.
  • We follow baby's lead by repeating vocaliastions, mirroring movements & showing baby we're listening carefully.
2 Year Old
16 -26 Months
  • The little ones get involved in welcoming and caring for one another themselves.
  • We give full attention when these young children look to us for a response.
  • Your child is encouraged to understand the feelings of others by labelling emotions such as sadness or happiness.
3 Year Old Painting
22 - 36 Months
  • Our system ensures each child has opportunities to join in.
  • Your child will recognize & understand rules for being with others, such as waiting for a turn.
  • Happy Bunnies models ways of noticing how others are feeling and comforting/helping them.
4 Year Old Learning on Computer
30 - 50 Months
  • Kids develop positive relationships, as we challenge negative comments and actions towards either peers or adults.
  • Your child is encouraged to choose to play with a variety of friends from all backgrounds, so everybody in the group experiences being included.
  • Extra support is provided for children who have not yet made friends.
5 Year Old Reading
40 -60 Months
  • Your child is supported to link openly and confidently with others, e.g. to seek help or check information.
  • We ensure children and adults make opportunities to listen to each other and explain their actions.
  • We're aware of and respond to particular needs of children who are learning English as an additional language.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards that [Happy Bunnies] meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe.

It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.

Happy Bunnies Director Magdalena MacLeod

Meet Happy Bunnies Director Magdalena MacLeod

Born to a family in the childcare and teaching sector for generations, Magdalena trained as a day care & pre-school teacher and graduated from the Slovak Pedagogical Academy in 1993 with distinction.

Then, 11 years ago, she took over a chain of centers in England that had been running for over 20 years. They provided the foundation for her early learning centers both in England and over here in Austin, Texas.

Today, she personally runs the Happy Bunnies Early Learning Center in Oak Hill, Austin. When you drop off your child at Happy Bunnies, you know they are in Magdalena's care, someone with decades of experience in the child care sector. You are not leaving them with an anonymous manager in a large corporate chain. She cares, and has the experience and the unique attention to detail that comes from owning and operating her own school.

Magdalena would love to meet you and show you around her Austin Happy Bunnies.

When searching for a daycare that is the best for your child, you want to make sure that it is absolutely perfect right? If you think about it, where you send your child to daycare is where your child is going to grow, learn, make new friends, and spend a majority of their time during the week. I was looking for a daycare whose philosophy was focused on play and developmental based, but with Happy Bunnies, I found more.

I found love and happiness for my girls. Nothing against the big chain daycares out there, but that’s not what i was looking for. I wanted a place that would focus on my kids as individuals, and not grouped in as a whole. The teachers love their kids and genuinely show that they care in so many ways.

Leaving my 10 month old was hard at first, but the teachers give frequent updates and pictures and I always know what is going on. I truly never have to worry about the girls because i know they are in such good hands.

Magdalena, the owner, is such a kind person and so easy to talk to. She is incredibly understanding and amazingly flexible because she just gets it! My hours aren’t always consistent and she has been understanding 100% of the time and has worked with me regarding hours for the girls.

I hope that I’m able to express how amazing this daycare is because it will be hard to find another one like it.

We have had our child at Happy Bunnies for 18 months. We've been extremely satisfied with the care and instruction she's received.

Owner Magdalena is very educated in early childhood development. She's also been accommodating with our schedule, and with classroom placement for our daughter. We like that the kids spend a fair amount of time playing outside weather permitting. Our daughter loves her teacher and classmates and will miss Miss May.

Among other teachers, Miss Elle, Miss Natalie and Miss Alina, have been kind and helpful. So many parents in South Austin/Oak Hill/DS area looking for good childcare or MDO-style daycare - this is a good option for you!

We would recommend Happy Bunnies to any of our friends.

I have an 18 month old boy who has been attending school here since he was 3 months old. He loves his teachers and they love him back. He learns so much every day. It is amazing. Everyone at the school is so caring. They even put a misting system up so the kids can spend a little more time outside. Highly recommended.
