Nursery Rhymes – Tuffets and Haystack

Hi parents! I wanted to share what our Younger Toddlers will be learning about this week.

Our theme for the week is Nursery Rhymes, and we’ll be exploring fun rhymes like Little Miss Muffet, Little Boy Blue, and Three Little Kittens. Through these stories, the children will practice listening, language, and early storytelling skills.

The children will enjoy several hands-on sensory activities. One activity includes exploring a tub filled with shredded paper “hay,” where they will search for hidden toys and move the hay from one container to another. This helps develop curiosity and fine motor skills.

We will also do creative activities, like gluing tissue paper to make haystacks and painting with different shades of blue. These activities help toddlers explore textures, colors, and creativity.

During our pretend play, children will make cherry pies for kittens using play dough and red pompoms. Pretend play helps build imagination and social skills.

We will also move our bodies and act out the rhymes by walking like spiders, pretending to be kittens, and crawling under a “haystack” for quiet rest time.

It’s going to be a fun week full of nursery rhymes, movement, creativity, and learning through play!
