This week in our Two-Year-Old and Toddle classroom, our theme is Nursery Rhymes, and we’ll be focusing on Humpty Dumpty and Hey Diddle, Diddle.
We’ll be doing lots of fun, hands-on activities with eggs and nursery rhyme characters!
In literacy, we’ll read Humpty Dumpty and Hey Diddle, Diddle, practice rhyming words, and even learn some ASL signs like egg, king, dish* and moon .
In fine motor and art, the children will:
* Paint egg-shaped pictures
* Match colorful plastic eggs
* Work on Humpty Dumpty puzzles
For cognitive learning, we’ll explore:
* Egg shakers to compare sounds
* Weighted eggs to sort from lightest to heaviest
In social-emotional development, we’ll talk about how it feels to fall down like Humpty Dumpty and who helps us when we get hurt. We’ll also practice retelling stories and making friends laugh .
For movement, we’ll roll like eggs, do the Chicken Dance, march with rhythm instruments, and move around our “moon” circle .
We’ll even make a special snack activity with eggs during the week .
It’s going to be a fun, engaging week full of learning through play! Thank you for your continued support — we can’t wait to share all the fun with you!
