Young children often learn early math, such as counting, by rote
memorization. Memorization is important. It helps us get answers quickly.
However, children need a stronger math foundation to be successful in the years ahead. Often, children learn to count using their ability to remember. What they hear. Children may be able to count to ten but have no idea what “ten” is conceptually. They just know that it is a big number.
Happy Bunnies PreK teaches children math in a developmental sequence in which one skill builds upon the other. Children learn these skills with materials they can touch, taste, and smell as part of their daily activities.
Here are some activities you can do at home that follow the same sequence of skills your child will be learning
at school.
