I’ve been thinking lately, yes I know, my husband would say – Oh no, don’t do that!
But seriously, I’ve been thinking that the small things make a huge difference in the long run.
It’s easy to get caught up in chasing academic results for our little ones. I had parents worrying that their two-year-old was falling behind in his “academic development.” Yet, he wasn’t even potty trained.
As a parent, mom, and educator, I realized that life skills will make or break your child’s future. We are heading into an era where knowledge will be easily accessible. AI already writes our emails, letters, and college essays—who needs writing skills?
We will need coping skills, flexibility, the ability to reinvent ourselves, and the strength to deal with frustration and boredom. We live in a world of instant gratification—it’s hard to work on a puzzle made out of wood with no hints built in.
We start building these skills from birth with simple games that deepen the bond between the child and his carer and build self-esteem and independence.
