So, here is a couple of ideas of what you can do at home to help your babies along language and speech development.
You can Sing “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” with children.
Be sure children can see your mouth moving as you sing. After singing a verse or two, stop and encourage little ones to fill in the sound made by the animal. Slow the song down for younger babies.
Many little ones will begin to repeat interesting sounds and words as they approach their first birthday. Words that imitate natural sounds, such as swoosh, plop, moo, meow, and cluck, are called onomatopoeia.
These fun words help children learn to discriminate language sounds more clearly.
