Exploring Weather, Earth and Wonder

This week at Happy Bunnies, our preschoolers are going on an exciting learning adventure – all about Earth, day and night, and the weather!

We’ll start with a fun Fine Arts activity where children become the Earth and Moon! Our little “Earths” will stand together while one friend becomes the “Moon” and orbits around them as we sing “The Moon is Moving” to the tune of “Are You Sleeping?”. It’s a joyful way to learn how the moon travels around the Earth — and how we always see the same side of it!

Next, we’ll explore daytime and nighttime. The children will sort picture cards into circles labeled “Day,” “Night,” and “Both.” This helps them discover what we see and do at different times of day — and even notice that sometimes, we can see the moon in the daytime sky too!

Then, we’ll talk about the weather — what it looks and feels like outside, and how it helps us decide what to wear. Using weather and clothing cards, the children will match outfits to different kinds of weather, from sunny days to snowy ones. They’ll share their ideas and learn that sometimes one item — like a sweater — works in more than one kind of weather!

And finally, we’ll enjoy a beautiful storytime together with “The Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats. Through Peter’s adventure, children will explore curiosity, feelings, and the magic of discovery. We’ll talk, make predictions, and even create some “snowy” art of our own!

By the end of the week, your children will have practiced listening, speaking, predicting, comparing, and expressing emotions — all while having so much fun!
