So, you are a new mom or a new dad. Maybe you are expecting your first child, or you already have your baby with you. You are thinking about choosing the right school for you and your baby. We often talk about what we expect from schools, quite rightly so, but I do want to give you three pieces of advice that will make the transition from your home to school easy breezy
1) Teach your baby to sleep with some noise during the day. It is almost impossible for baby rooms to achieve 100% silence. You can use a sound machine or just put a radio on quietly while your baby naps during the day.
2) If you are breastfeeding, make sure you teach your baby to feed from a bottle. We had a mom once whose 4-month-old baby refused the bottle, and the mom had to come and breastfeed her baby every three hours. So, unless you have a very understanding boss, teach your baby to drink from a bottle as well as your breast.
3) This last advice is something that I wish I had been told when I had my babies. Your babies will get used to the teat of the baby bottle and the shape of the pacifier you use from day one. You will be stuck with that shape, so choose wisely. It is tempting to buy the newest and the best that’s out there. However, you must select a bottle you will use for the next two years of your baby’s life. If there is a chance that you might not be able to repurchase the bottles, don’t do it! Choose a company that has been around for a while and is available at any supermarket or pharmacy.
