Bugs: Ladybugs and Dragonflies

Youtube video

Dear Families,

This week, our younger toddlers will explore the exciting world of ladybugs and dragonflies as we learn all about bugs! Throughout the week, the children will investigate insect photos with magnifying glasses, create colorful ladybug paintings, and make dragonfly crafts using a variety of materials. They will strengthen their fine motor skills by creating looping patterns in paint and assembling bug-themed puzzles and memory games.

During language activities, we will read stories such as Backyard Bugs and Five Little Ladybugs, learn American Sign Language signs for insects, ladybugs, and dragonflies, and engage in discussions about the bugs we discover. The children will also participate in fun social-emotional activities, including fingerplays, rhymes, and conversations about wishes and kindness.

To support physical development, the children will move like dragonflies, play active bug-themed games, and practice coordination through tossing and hopping activities. Outdoors, we will search for ladybugs and dragonflies and follow bug-inspired pathways. We look forward to a week filled with discovery, creativity, movement, and learning as we explore these fascinating insects together!
