At Happy Bunnies, we believe that early childhood is a magical time of discovery and growth. Our recent activity, “Names and Games: Self Recognition,” was a delightful journey into self-awareness and fun for our little ones.
Rolling and Clapping: A Joyful Start
One-year-olds are wonderful copycats, eager to mirror the actions of those around them. During this activity, our Happy Bunnies children engaged in a series of rolling and clapping games. They rolled their hands, clapped along, and waved back with enthusiasm. These simple yet captivating movements not only delighted the children but also helped them develop their motor skills and coordination.
On and Off, Up and Down: Flashlight Fun
Flashlights became the highlight of our “On and Off, Up and Down” segment. By the age of 12 months, children can learn to turn a flashlight on and off, providing a fantastic opportunity to introduce them to the concept of opposites. Our Happy Bunnies children were given flashlights to explore, and their faces lit up with excitement as they discovered how to control the light.
We demonstrated turning the flashlight on and off, repeating the words aloud and showing the American Sign Language (ASL) signs for “on” and “off.” This not only made the activity engaging but also introduced them to basic language skills and sign language.
Mimicking Games: The Power of Imitation
Mimicking games are a staple at Happy Bunnies, and our recent session was no exception. The children took turns imitating various actions and sounds, from clapping and waving to crawling and rolling. These games fostered a sense of self-recognition and awareness, as each child saw their actions reflected by their peers and teachers.
The joy and laughter that filled the room were testament to the success of these activities. Our Happy Bunnies children not only had fun but also made significant strides in their physical, cognitive, and social development.
