Looking Back at 2020 – And Ahead to 2021

Sunrise

The end of a year is a natural time for reflection – for parents and everyone else.

There is no better time than now to make a change. What better way to start the New Year than to pay attention to your inner voice?

How have you lived your life so far? Has it been lived safely and structured, or do you literally take each day as it comes?

As parents, at least a little aforethought is probably a good idea but, then again, our kids always surprise us. Isn’t spontaneity the greatest thing they teach us?

The Coronavirus

So, I wouldn’t be human if I didn’t address this one first. The virus made 2020 so very hard for all of us. We lost relatives and were separated from other ones we love. There can’t be a family in the country untouched by this.

We’ve had to take this one as it comes, as it’s been new for so many of us. And yet, we’ve adapted and created new systems to stay as safe as possible too.

As 2021 dawns, we’re all wondering what it will mean for us, how and whether the new vaccines will change life in our communities.

Still, by now, strong systems for coping and dealing with the virus are already in place. It will affect how we continue to live our lives, but it won’t stop us from getting on either.

A Time for Renewal

Have you always wanted to cut your hair short, learn Spanish, study, take a painting course, travel to exotic places, support children in Africa, or take tango lessons?

Maybe you want to update your resume, launch your market, get valuable recruitment tips, and prepare for your first job interview with a new employer in the new year.

Despite and, even in some cases because of the virus, there has never been a better time to recreate who you want to be.

That goes for your children too. Were there things they missed out on last year? Can you set a great goal with them for the coming year?

Set a Big, Grand Goal with your Family

This year, my family and I have 2 big, grand goals – to fly in a helicopter up the Grand Canyon and celebrate the Fourth of July at AlienFest in Roswell, New Mexico!

Of course, these both depend on the ability to travel this year – but I’m optimistic.

Even if they don’t happen in 2021 – it’s a lot of fun to think about it. We’re looking forward to doing both of them as soon as we possibly can!

My Wish for You

Things will change. When they do, we will adapt and grow.

Come what may, together we will deal with it, and I wish you a very Happy New Year.

May all your grand dreams and plans come real for you in 2021 and beyond!
